Enable Clock via Group Policy on a Terminal Server

To enable viewing of the clock in the taskbar for clients connecting to a Windows Terminal Server, this can be achieved through the use of a group policy registry setting.

On a Windows Server 2008 R2 DC, open Group Policy Management and edit your group policy. The location can be found here:

User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry

  1. This article applies to clients running Server 2000 and Server 2003 only. The clock is displayed by default for Remote Desktop clients on Server 2008 and up.
