Windows Server – Disable VMware Tools Icon

To disable the VMware Tools tray icon, edit the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware Tools

Edit the “ShowTray” key, change the REG_DWORD hexadecimal value to “000000000”, and reboot.
